John deals with a wide range of patent and design work in the mechanical and general engineering fields and also carries out significant trade mark work for clients. He has considerable experience in patent litigation and in trade mark opposition and cancellation proceedings worldwide. He represents clients at hearings before the UK Patent Office and in Oral Proceedings before the European Patent Office.

John started with a Dublin based IP firm after graduating from Queen’s University in Belfast 1997 and moved to Sweden to work with a Swedish IP firm gaining valuable overseas experience. John represents over twenty percent of Northern Ireland’s leading one hundred companies.

Sam supports clients in a variety of electronics and software fields. After starting his career in private practice, Sam moved into industry and has served as IP director for a wearables start-up as well as IP counsel for a FTSE 100 company specialising in threat detection and security screening technologies.

Sam is well versed in the challenges and opportunities present in start-ups and emerging companies. He can successfully deliver cost-effective IP strategies to drive investment and revenue through licensing.

Sam started his career in Japan before settling in Manchester. During his training, he achieved the highest mark in the European-wide patent drafting exam and the highest aggregate mark across all European Qualifying Examination papers.
